College of Public Health and Health Informatics Holds an Awareness Health Day in Cooperation with the Directorate of Health Affairs

The College of Public Health and Health Informatics at Umm Al-Qura University held an Awareness Health Day for the diseases of osteoporosis and diabetes, in addition to seasonal influenza. This took place in cooperation with the Directorate of Health Affairs in Makkah Al-Mukarramah region on Wednesday, 17 Rabi` Al-Awwal, 1441 A.H, corresponding to 13 November, 2019 A.C.

The event was held in the Preparatory Year building (male students section), in coordination with the Student Programs and Activities Unit of the Preparatory Year, and was also held in the building of the College of Medicine (female students section), in Al-Abdiyyah University City. The Awareness Exhibition was visited by His Excellency Dr. Wahib bin Dakhilullah Al-Harbi, the Vice Dean of the Educational Affairs of the Joint First Year Deanship, His Excellency Dr. Ahmad bin Fawzi Arbein, the Vice Dean of the Joint First Year Deanship, as well as many academic staff and university students.

The event included many corners:

  • An awareness corner about the risks of osteoporosis, and the importance of healthy food for the body.
  • An awareness corner about diabetics and making healthy lifestyle changes.
  • A corner providing the service of early detection of diabetics.
  • An awareness corner about the different types of seasonal influenza and how to deal with them.
  • A corner providing the service of giving vaccinations against seasonal influenza to the UQU's affiliates, including the academic staff, administrators, as well as the male and female students.

His Excellency Dr. Salah Alawna, His Excellency Dr. Muhammad Abdul-Salam, Her Excellency Dr. Mashaeil Al-Fifi, Her Excellency Dr. Laila Sulaiman, Her Excellency Dr. Iman Abu Sir and a group of the college's male and female students participated in the event.

His Excellency the Dean of the College of Public Health and Health Informatics at Umm Al-Qura University, Dr. Ahmad bin Omar Babalghith, pointed out the importance of the awareness events and the different partnerships with the health sectors that aim at raising the awareness of the individual and the society about the danger of these diseases, and of the protection against many infectious and noninfectious diseases.
