The College of Public Health Organizes a Second Workshop for Training on Using the Blackboard E-Learning System

Within the framework of the periodical development sessions being held for the academic staff members of the College of Public Health and Health Informatics, along with taking advantage of the resources available at Umm Al-Qura University, the Development and Training Unit at the College, in cooperation with the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education, organized the second specialized workshop on Monday, 22 Safar 1441 A.H, corresponding to 21 October 2019 A.C., to train academic staff members on using the e-learning system: Blackboard.

The second workshop focused on the aspects of using virtual classes, and how to solve and prevent problems when they occur during using the system. This workshop is a part of a series of workshops offered at the College of Public Health and Health Informatics by the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education with the aim of promoting the skills of the academic staff members at the college in relation to the available e-learning systems at Umm Al-Qura University. This contributes to improving the quality of the educational process by deploying technology in a way compatible with the Saudi vision 2030.

The workshop was offered by Eng. Ashraf Abdu with the assistance of Eng. Wael Badawi from the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education, in the presence of the Dean of the College of Public Health and Health Informatics, Dr. Ahmad bin Omar Babalgith, as well as the vice deans, heads of the departments, and a group of academic staff members at the college.

The workshop included a practical explanation of the Blackboard system and how to use virtual classes, and gave an overview of the features provided by the system to the various users and beneficiaries. It also discussed the content of the upcoming workshops. Finally, views and opinions were sought from the audience regarding their training needs in connection with the system, which will be an important area of focus in the upcoming workshops.
