A Delegation from the Presidency of Meteorology and Environment Visits the College of Public Health and Health Informatics

Within the framework of the joint cooperation between Umm Al-Qura University, represented by the College of Public Health and Health Informatics, and the various government agencies, a delegation from the Presidency of Meteorology and Environment, headed by the Supervisor of the Department of Health and Environment, Dr. Magdy Al-Toukhi, the Director of the Health and Environment Administration, Salim bin Shu`aib, and the Director of the Human Resources Department, Mr. Abdulaziz Khaishan Al-Jalsi, visited the College of Public Health and Health Informatics on Monday, 8 Jumada Al-Awwal, 1440 AH. The delegation held a meeting with His Excellency Dr. Ahmed ibn Omar Babalgith, the Dean of the College of Public Health and Health Informatics, Dr. Hamid Ghulam, the Vice-Dean of the College, His Excellency Dr. Ali Al-Shahri, the Vice Dean of the College for Educational Affairs, His Excellency Dr. Ahmad Abdullah, the Vice Dean for Hospital Affairs and Training, and all the members of the academic staff, at the College's headquarters in Al-`Aziziyyah.

The meeting began with a welcome speech by the College Dean Dr. Ahmad Bablghaith, who gave a comprehensive explanation of the capabilities and community services provided by the College and specifically the Department of Health Environment. These services include teaching, training, and research programs that are offered to the students and all the community sectors related to all aspects of environmental health.

The delegation viewed the research capacities provided by the College in serving the community. The delegation also visited the College library and the laboratories of the environmental health, including: the Molecular Biology Laboratory, Insects and Parasites Laboratory, Detox and Drugs Laboratory, Food Laboratory, Water and Air Safety Laboratory, Occupational Health Laboratory, and other research labs.

This visit comes within the framework of the commitment of the College to fulfill their duty in providing social services to the different sectors in the community.

At the end of the meeting, Dr. Bablghaith extended his thanks to the visiting delegation, and stressed the commitment of the College to continue providing the best services to develop public health, particularly environmental health, under the support and directions of His Excellency Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, President of the University, toward the programs and activities of the College.
