The College of Public Health and Health Informatics, represented in His Excellency Dr. Ubaydullah bin Hamid Al-Lihyani, participated in the "Ibtaker" Exhibition and Award held by the Small and Medium Enterprises General Authority from 1 to 6 Rabi` Al-Thani, 1440 A.H., in Riyadh. His patent "Collection Container for Safe Disposal of Contaminated and Sharp Medical Supplies" was chosen from among a number of patents submitted by the patent offices in Saudi universities for the final stage of the competition, in which 25 patents participated.
His Excellency Dr. Ahmad bin Omar Babalgith expressed his appreciation for the participation of Dr. Al-Lihyani in this event. Dr. Al-Lihyani's invention is a container in which contaminated medical needles can be disposed, without any need of contact as they can be placed in the sharp waste container using hydraulics. This can protect the health practitioner, Allah willing, from the risk of infectious diseases due to being pricked by medical needles contaminated with the patient's blood.
