The College of Public Health and Health Informatics participated with the Diabetes Center of Heraa Public Hospital in Makkah in the Diabetes Awareness and Educational Campaign under the theme: "I Can" on Tuesday Jumada Al-Awal 13, 1439 H corresponding to January 30, 2018. The campaign was launched by the Director of Heraa Hospital Dr. Waleed Mohamed Hussein and the Director of the Diabetes Center Dr. Hameed Al-Sahafi. The campaign witnessed participation of the Dean of the College of Public Health and Health Informatics Dr. Waheeb bin Dakhilullah Al-Harbi, Dr. Salahulddin Mohamed Alawna, Dr. Laila Suleiman Al-Faki from the College of Public Health and Health Informatics and a number of female students from the Department of Health Awareness and Promotion and the Students Club.
The college was very keen to participate in this campaign emanating from its role in the partnership with the others in the health sector endeavoring to serve the community and reduce spread of many diseases whereas the awareness program included providing awareness lectures to the patients and their families and the center's visitors about diabetes. The college also participated with an educational corner about diabetes( symptoms of high and low blood sugar, blood sugar regulation methods within the normal level, importance of therapy regulation, unconscious diabetic first aid, diabetic foot care methods". Also, Awareness brochures on diabetes, some healthy diet suitable for the diabetes patients and some symbolic gifts were distributed to the patients and visitors of the center.
At the conclusion of the event, the participants in campaign from the college of public health and health informatics were honored and awarded appreciation certificates by the Director of Heraa Hospital in return for their effective efforts in making the campaign a success.
