Department Committees

The English Department consists of several committees, which are responsible for evaluating the current status of the department according to the specific competence of each committee. On this basis, each committee makes the recommendations that it deems appropriate to submit to the Department Council for discussion and approval.

The following are all the committees of the English Department:

  1. Curriculum Development Committee: This committee aims to promote awareness among academic staff members and students about the importance of developing the educational curricula, reviewing and developing study courses and plans, introducing new study programs, and following up the various academic and cultural activities related to curriculum development and modernization, and the submission of the minutes of meetings to complete necessary procedures.
  2. Course Equivalency Committee: This committee is responsible for reviewing the course equivalency requests submitted by the students of the English Department.
  3. Study Schedule Committee: This committee is responsible for distributing the educational courses among the academic staff members, arranging their schedules, and addressing all issues related to the various sections of courses.
  4. Exam Committee: This committee is responsible for compiling the results of exams, distributing and monitoring assignments, and also allocating exam halls and coordinating the procedures of alternative final exams.
  5. Student Affairs Committee: This committee is responsible for receiving reviews requests submitted by the students and handling coordination with the Office of Student Affairs at the college.
  6. Student Activities Committee: This committee supervises the various student activities and carries out coordination to ensure the active participation of the students of the department in the cultural events organized by the college, the university, and other organizations.
  7. Supervisory Committee of the Department's Website: This committee is responsible for updating, developing, and maintaining the department's website.
  8. Academic Advising Committee: This committee supervises the various academic affairs related to the students.
  9. Annual Report Committee: This committee is responsible for compiling and monitoring all the data necessary for the preparation of the annual report, as well as the statistical data concerning the various activities of the department and its staff.
  10. Course Coordinators: Each academic staff member, at both sections, supervises a course or a group of courses and works to improve it, in line with the scientific program outlined for the department by the university.
  11. Department Quality Committees: This committee is responsible for supervising the implementation of the work plans in the department and completing all requirements for institutional and academic accreditation, in addition to strengthening the culture of quality improvement among the staff members and students of the department.
