As part of the activities of the Voluntary Unit at the College of Engineering and Islamic Architecture in Umm Al-Qura University, Sirb Voluntary Team presented a course on Quality, Proficiency and Risk Management on Tuesday evening, 14 Dhul-Hijjah, 1441 A.H., corresponding to 4 August, 2020 A.C. During the course, how Japan sought the help of a scientist from a deadly hostile country was discussed, referring to the ways they used this help to save themselves from the crisis that destroyed the country in the aftermath of the World War II. Moreover, how Japan benefited from its sustainable human and intellectual capabilities was covered, along with how they employed them to push the industrial process and come out of the crisis in a short period to lead the countries of the world economically and intellectually.
His Excellency Dr. Talal Mandoura stressed the principle of persistent improvement and change for the better at the personal and institutional levels. Moreover, he highlighted the benefit of good planning and performance measurement. He equally emphasized some very important methodologies needed for improving business and achieving constant improvement of outputs. His Excellency Dr. Mandoura explained the most important international and local standards of quality, specifically elaborating on the requirements for the quality management system ISO 9001, the occupational health safety systems ISO 45001, and the food safety management system ISO 22000.
The meeting was honored by the participation of the Saudi Society for Quality, represented by His Excellency Dr. Khaled bin Ahmad Al-Akwa, Chairman of the Society’s branch in Makkah, who presented the course and shed light on the society’s plans. The gathering was also honored by the participation of the Creative Energies Training Institute (CETI), which is accredited by the International Register of Certified Auditors, Lead Auditors (IRCA), and was represented by its Head Engineer Louay Safta. They present IRCA certificates for most of the ISO and other specialized engineering and professional courses, such as PMP and others.
It is worth mentioning that the Zoom room was full, reaching its ceiling of 1,000 trainees one hour before the start of the course; the number of people enrolled in the course was ten thousand trainees. Dr. Mandourah promised his trainees to repeat the course for those who were unable to attend, and provide more quality programs of benefit to the society.
