The College of Public Health and Health Informatics at Umm Al-Qura University, represented by Dr. Shamim Muhammad, an academic staff member at the Department of Health Education and Promotion, participated with the Maternity and Children's Hospital in Makkah Al-Mukarramah in a one-day training program concerning the challenges of multidisciplinary administration for persons with disabilities. The program was held on 3 December, 2019 A.C., in conjunction with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD).
The Department of Academic and Training Affairs at the Maternity and Children's Hospital in Makkah Al-Mukarramah organized a seven-hour training program approved by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties. Dr. Shamim Muhammad was invited to speak in this event. His Excellency talked about managing behavioral problems of children with intellectual disabilities.
Employees of the Maternity and Children's Hospital, non-governmental organizations working in the field of disabilities, and students of Umm Al-Qura University participated in the activities.
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities coincides with 3 December. It aims at educating the community about disability issues and presenting information about the rights of persons with disabilities, aiming to integrate them in all political, social and cultural fields in their communities.
