Umm Al-Qura University participated in the annual meeting of the American Council on Occupational Education that comprises representatives of all accredited institutions and bodies. The four-day meeting discussed the latest developments and notices recorded by the council concerning the approved bodies, and included workshops.

The university was represented at this meeting by the Vice-Dean of Makkah Community College for Development and Educational Affairs, Imad Dr. Abdul-Rahman Shafi`i. The meeting was attended by the General Director of the American Council on Occupational Education, Dr. Gary Puckett, who praised the community college for gaining accreditation for two consecutive periods.

The Dean of the College, Dr. Isam Bazarah, expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Excellency the UQU President, Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, for his support in participating in such international forums that contribute to improving the quality and accreditation of colleges, and representing the university at an international level. He also praised the efforts of the Vice-President for Development and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Hani bin Othman Ghazi, for his support and guidance of the university's development and representing it in international forums.
