Dr. Abdullah MM Faqehi

Assistant Professor in Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department

Dr Abdullah had his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) thesis entitled: Using Mass Spectrometry to Profile Sex Steroids in Metabolic Diseases, The Queen's Medical Research Institute, College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, The University of Edinburgh in 2020. He graduated in Master of Sciences (MSc) in Pharmaceutical Analysis with distinction, Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, University of Strathclyde in 2010, He also obtained his BSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences (B. Pharm), Pharmacy College, King Saud University in 2006. Dr Abdullah M Faqehi has developed a knowledge of Mass spectrometry as an analytical technique to study hormonal biochemistry. He has applied this knowledge to develop methods to measure hormones such as androgens and estrogens in lower levels than those detected before, aiming to improve the quality of these assays and open opportunities to analyses smaller sample volumes e.g., children. The methods he has developed was applied to study clinical cohorts e.g., testosterone in men with ranging obesity, women receiving breast cancer therapy studying the effects of drugs on estrogen levels

Dr. Munjed Ibrahim

Associate Professor in Pharmaceutical chemistry department

He obtained his Ph.D. degree from the university of Genoa in 1999. He attended the research at the advanced biotechnology center (ABC). where he worked on the design, synthesis, characterization, and biological evaluation of heterocyclic compounds as potential anti-tumoral and antiviral agents. His thesis focused mainly on two pathways, the first one is the synthesis of coumarine and chromone (naphthopyrones) derivatives capable of stabilizing the deoxynuleotides tODN (antigen method) and the antisense method in order to block the tumor or the viral cells. The second line is the synthesis and the biological studies of isoxazole derivatives as antiviral agents specially the Haemophilus influenza subclasses. From 2000 to 2003, was appointed as Assistant Professor of medicinal chemistry at Al-Isra University in Jordan. From 2003 to 2010, he joined the Dammam University-Saudi Arabia as assistant professor and as a head of Department for four years. From 2010 till now he has been appointed to the department of pharmaceutical chemistry of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Umm Al-Qura University in Mecca.
