In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
All praise be to Allah, the Lord of Existence, and may Allah's Peace and Blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, and his Family and Companions.
The medical profession is concerned with the detection and treatment of disease; therefore, half of medicine lies in medication.
The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the College of Medicine is keen to provide medical students with the information they need to enable them to dispense the most appropriate treatment to each patient. This includes understanding the possible side effects that can occur from drug interactions.
The department also participates in community service by creating awareness through holding seminars, workshops, scientific meetings, school-based awareness-raising campaigns, and more.
Indeed, scientific research and publishing occupy a large share of the attention of the academic staff members of the department.
The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology is one brick in the broader structure of the College of Medicine at Umm Al-Qura University. It works in a wonderfully consistent manner with the other departments to render the educational process professionally and efficiently worthy of the status of Umm Al-Qura University, which Allah has honored with the grace of knowledge, together with the grace of name and place.
