The Osol Journal

A scientific refereed journal concerned with publishing research and studies in the field of the principles of jurisprudence and the objectives of the Shari`ah.

Vision

For the journal to be the first destination for researchers to publish their distinguished research on the principles of jurisprudence as well as the objectives of the Shari`ah and its contemporary applications.

Mission

Publication of refereed scientific research on the principles of jurisprudence, the objectives of the Shari`ah, and related scientific work, in accordance with the standards of the international publication of scientific journals (ISI).

Objectives

  1. Enriching and developing scientific research in the field of the principles of jurisprudence and the objectives of the Shari`ah by providing a specialized scientific environment that encourages researchers to publish their distinguished research.
  2. Contributing to addressing contemporary issues by publishing distinguished research papers that deal with these issues from the perspective of the principles of jurisprudence and the objectives of the Shari`ah.
  3. Following up and monitoring the most prominent trends of scientific activity in the field of the principles of jurisprudence and the objectives of the Shari`ah by publishing critical reviews of books, news of university theses, and reports of conferences and seminars.
  4. Achieving scientific communication between specialists in the principles of jurisprudence and the objectives of the Shari`ah via evaluating research, exchanging experience, and opening new channels for objective and purposeful criticism.

Scientific Refereeing (Peer-Reviewing)

All research published in the journal is subject to rigorous scientific refereeing by at least two examiners, according to generally accepted scientific standards in that regard.

Areas of Publication in the Journal

  1. Scientific research and studies related to the principles of jurisprudence and the objectives of the Shari`ah and their applications that are characterized by originality, novelty, scientific contribution, and a sound approach.
  2. Study and investigation of heritage manuscripts related to the principles of jurisprudence and the objectives of the Shari`ah with scholarly additions.
  3. Reviews and presentations of new books related to the principles of jurisprudence and the objectives of the Shari`ah.
  4. Reports of scientific conferences and seminars related to the principles of jurisprudence and the objectives of the Shari`ah.
  5. Abstracts of distinguished university theses on the principles of jurisprudence and the objectives of the Shari`ah.
  6. Indexes specialized in the field of the principles of jurisprudence and the objectives of the Shari`ah.
  7. The issues raised by the editorial board in which scholars and experts write about points that are related to the journal's objectives.

Journal Corners

Research and Studies:

It is the corner in which the original research and studies sent to the journal are published, after being reviewed and approved for publication.

Verified Texts:

It is a corner in which the verified heritage texts sent to the journal are published, after being reviewed and approved for publication.

Book Reviews:

It is a corner to present the most important new books published in the field of specialization and to explain their noteworthy merits as well as other aspects which need to be improved or supplemented.

In each issue, the editorial board nominates the appropriate book for presentation and review, then nominates one of the distinguished specialists to be in charge of editing the material for this corner, according to a special form for this purpose. The review on the book should be no more than (8) pages. These pages should include the contents of the book, the most important ideas mentioned in it, and its most important merits and weaknesses. The first page of the review should state the author's name, book title, country, the name of the publisher, the year of publication, number of pages of the book, and the name of the reviewer with his academic degree and the body he works for.

This corner will be linked to the readers’ opinions window on the journal’s website, which is dedicated to facilitating interaction with regard to what the journal publishes on its website.

Reports of Conferences and Seminars:

It is a corner for publishing reports on scientific conferences, symposia, and seminars: local, Arab and international events that were recently held in the field of the principles of jurisprudence and the objectives of the Shari`ah. The number of pages of each report shall not exceed (5) pages. Each report shall include the topics presented in the conference or seminar, its outcomes, and the most important decisions and recommendations that it issued.

Thesis Extracts:

It is a corner to publish extracts of master's and doctoral theses recently awarded to male and female researchers, in a special report that does not exceed (4) pages. The first page contains the title of the thesis, the name of the researcher, the name of the supervisor, the name of the scientific department, the name of the college, and the name of the university that approved the thesis.

Indexes:

It is a corner for publishing specialized bibliographic works in the field of the principles of jurisprudence and the objectives of the Shari`ah.
