The Role of Educational Supervisors in Using Educational Platforms for Developing Professional Learning Communities

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the role of educational supervisors in using educational platforms for developing professional learning communities. To achieve this goal, the study addressed the reality, dimensions, and challenges. This study employed a descriptive survey method, utilizing a questionnaire to collect data from a sample of 603 teachers and educational supervisors in the Assir School District during the 2013 school year. The study found that the use of educational platforms by educational supervisors for developing professional learning communities has a high score, with a mean of (2.42). The dimensions of developing professional learning communities using educational platforms also scored high, with a mean of (2.55). The study showed that the challenges facing the development of professional learning communities by using educational platforms scored high, with a mean of (2.44). Additionally, the study revealed statistically significant differences between groups based on different gender, current job, and years of experience regarding the role of educational supervisors in using educational platforms for developing professional learning communities. Finally, the study recommended that immediate solutions must be provided to address the challenges facing the development of professional learning communities using educational platforms. It also suggested establishing professional standards and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for using educational platforms for developing professional learning communities.
