Overview
Thanks to God’s grace and the foresight of our Government, the kind approval of His Majesty the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, may God rest his soul in peace, on establishing the College of Computer Science, Umm Al-Qura University, in Al-Qunfudhah, was issued. Since its establishment, there are incessant efforts by the University administration and the college staff to have the college established according to the latest study plans and curricula in the world to graduate distinguished professional engineers and researchers.
Since then, work was set off and students were admitted in the academic year 1433/1434 Hijri. The College includes three departments: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Information Systems. This aims at meeting the evolving labor market needs.
We moved to the temporary premises in Al-Qunfudhah in the beginning of the first semester of 1433 Hijri, and many halls and computer labs were furnished and equipped according to latest international criteria in coordination with the Vice-Presidency for Projects, Project Management and Operation and Maintenance and the Deanship of Information Technology to complete other equipments and provide telephone and internet services, students activities facilities, supporting educational services and security, safety and maintenance services.
The College extends its sincere thanks and gratitude to the University President, Vice-Presidents and supervisors of all sectors, for their generous support and ongoing efforts to promote this branch and complete the buildings, infrastructure and lab equipments to realize an international level of distinction.
All employees of the College; staff, technicians and administrative personnel, are fully dedicated to serve our new students, support them and provide them with all what they need to achieve the highest level of qualification and professionalism to best serve their society. It’s my pleasure also to welcome the students in our great scientific edifice, encourage them, advice them to follow the instructions of our holy religion and encourage them to make science and knowledge their road to distinction and dedicate their lives to serving our society.
The College was equipped with the latest educational and laboratory equipments and the academic plans were drawn according to:
• Modern international technological advancements and labor market needs;
• ABET criteria; and
• NCAAA criteria.
So that our students are offered high-quality education that allows them to compete in the local and international labor market, and pave the way for them to start post graduate studies in prominent international universities.
