Coinciding with the International Women's Day 2021, the colleges of the UQU branch in Al-Qunfudhah (female section), in cooperation with the Voluntary Work Unit at Al-Qunfudhah University College, organized a remote forum entitled, “The Saudi Women: Entrepreneurship and Ambition”, on Thursday, 11 March 2021 A.C., via WebEx.
The meeting began with an introduction by the Vice Dean of Al-Qunfudhah University College, Dr. Sharifah Al-Hazimi, in which she warmly welcomed the female leaders participating in this forum, pointing out that the theme of the 2021 International Women's Day is "Women in Leadership". She also lauded the achievements and innovations of Saudi women, their aspirations, and their struggles.
Her Excellency the Vice Dean of the College of Computing in Al-Qunfudhah, Dr. Hanan Al-Ghamdi, delivered a speech in the forum in which she spoke about empowering women technologically, stressing the importance of women's technological empowerment, being one of the requirements to achieve the objectives of the 2030 Sustainable Development Plan. She also highlighted the commendable efforts exerted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia towards the technological empowerment of Saudi women, and showcased some of the technological achievements the Saudi women made by examining some examples of female technology leaders in the Saudi society.
