In the framework of the activities of the Vice Deanship for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research of Al-Qunfudhah University College and within the series of seminars that were organized by the deanship, the Vice Deanship organized a seminar entitled, "The Five-Letter Language: Words not Like Other Words". The seminar was delivered by Dr. Faraj Ibrahim Muhammad Ibrahim, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, Biology Division.

In the first part of the seminar, Dr. Faraj discussed the principles of the genetic language, and its five letters: i.e. (A, C, G, T, U), which refer to the components of the genetic material (DNA & RNA), namely: Adenine, Cytosine, Guanine, Thiamine, and Uracil. Next, he displayed how these letters were structured into words to compose the genetic code, which is later decoded into amino acids and then proteins controlling all the qualities of living organisms.

In the second part of the seminar, Dr. Faraj discussed the relationship between the genetic language and human life, as well as the future of life on earth. He did this by shedding light on genetically engineered plants and how to produce them, how people deal with this, both those for and those against the idea, and how this was reflected in the regulatory legislation of the production and handling of these products in the different countries.

Finally, Dr. Faraj discussed to what extent genetic engineering technology and its product can be accepted or rejected. At the end, Dr. Faraj answered the questions of the attendees, including the academic staff and the students.
