A seminar entitled: “Homeland in the Perspective of Language and Literature” was held at the College of Arabic Language on the occasion of the 89th National Day on Monday morning, corresponding to 1 Safar, 1441 A.H., at the Discussion Hall in the college. This took place in the presence of His Excellency the Dean of the College, Dr. Yusuf Al-Salmi, a number of vice deans, heads of the departments, academic staff, and students.
His Excellency Dr. Sa`id Al-Qarni began the seminar with an introduction in which he talked about the subject of the seminar, explaining that it comes on the occasion of the 89th National Day and that the college desired to participate in it to benefit and build the homeland in the course of its academic and scientific journey. The first participation of the college came with two building blocks, discussed in two scientific papers, that were used to build the scientific structure of the homeland.
The first paper was entitled: "Homeland and Language" by His Excellency Prof. Yahia bin Ahmad Al-Uqaibi. In this paper, Prof. Yahia discussed the relation of the homeland with the language, in general, represented in the inevitable relationship between the Arabian Peninsula and the Arabic language. It is also represented in the inevitable relationship between the homeland of the "Kingdom of Saudi Arabia" and the Arabic language, in particular, as such a blessed country placed it in the first article of the constitution.
Next, he reviewed the foundation laid down by the country with regard to the concept of linguistic identity and linking it to the concept of patriotism, mentioning the efforts of the kingdom in this regard.
The second paper was entitled: "Homeland of Its Biography” His Excellency Dr. Saud bin Hamid Al-Saidi. In this paper, Dr. Saud spoke about physical interactions with the homeland, referring to the biography which takes the form of a narrative biography in which the homeland experience is covered, in harmony with the experience of the citizen, and that its significance is represented in deepening the feelings of patriotism in the young.
He tackled this through three international and local experiences: Firstly, the experience of love in "Dagestan is My Country" by Rasoul Hamzatouf.
Secondly, the experience of war in "My life with Starvation, Love and War" by Aziz Diyaa.
Thirdly, the experience of development by Ghazi Al-Qasibi in two aspects: Firstly, the aspect of building and development in the book entitled "A Life in Management", and secondly the aspect of protection and affordance in the book entitled "In the Eye of the Capital".
The seminar was concluded with comments from the attendees, first of which was given by His Excellency the Vice Dean of the College, Dr. Ahmad Al-Adwani, about this occasion that strengthens the attachment with the homeland and pursues to maintain its achievements.
