The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology Participates in the Events of the First Conference of Pharmacology and Toxicology

The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the College of Medicine, represented by His Excellency Prof. Sa`id Al-Ghamdi, the Head of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, and Dr. Nahla Ayoub Abdul-Hamid, an academic staff in the department, participated in the events of the first Conference of Pharmacology and Toxicology that was organized by the General Directorate of Health Affairs in the Eastern Province, represented by the Regional Centre For Poison Control, with the Saudi Pharmaceutical Society (SPS), represented by the Eastern Province Pharmacists Club. A total of 400 people participated in the events, including the deans of the colleges of pharmacy and the heads of the departments of poison control, throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and a number of academic staff in the colleges of pharmacy and medicine.

Dr. Maha Al-Mazrou`, the Director of the Regional Centre For Poison Control in the General Directorate of Health Affairs in the Eastern Province and the Head of the Eastern Province Pharmacists Club, affirmed that the events of the conference, which is considered the first of its kind, were launched under the patronage of Dr. Ibrahim Al-Arifi, the General Director of the General Directorate of Health Affairs in the Eastern Province. These activities included 5 scientific sessions, 4 workshops, and 22 research posters. The conference is accompanied by a contest for scientific researches, and up until the present, 25 scientific research projects from different universities and hospitals have been submitted. This is in addition to holding a clinical contest in which 4 teams from the universities of the Eastern Province competed, another contest in which 7 hospitals competed for the best pharmaceutical experiments and activities that were conducted in hospitals, which had a positive impact on upgrading the level of pharmaceutical service in those hospitals, and a medical exhibition during the events of the First Conference of Pharmacology and Toxicology.
