Under the auspices of Dr. Hashim bin Ahmed Al-Samadani, the Qunfudah University College dean, the Training Unit of the Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research Vice Deanship organized a seminar titled “Inference Building an Introduction to the Mathematical Jurisprudence”. Dr. Ahmed Helmi Harbi presented the seminar at the theater of the University College, on Monday, November 7th, 2016.
The Seminar got started with a speech delivered by Dr. Mohammed Alhazimi, the College and the Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research vice dean. During the speech Dr Alhazimi thanked the seminar presenter and the faculty members and students attending it. He also underlined that such activities enrich the educational learning process, and contribute to developing the career of the faculty members. And it also broadens the horizons of the faculty members and students alike towards more research efforts.
Dr. Ahmed Helmi Harb of the Islamic Studies Department presented the seminar. He began with extending thanks and gratitude to Dr. Hashim ibn Ahmed Alsmadani, the College dean, for encouraging and supporting the scientific and research activities at the College. And organizing such a seminar bears witness to that regard. He similarly offered thanks to Dr. Mohammed Alhazimi, the College and the Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research vice dean, for the efforts he exerts to that effect by providing an appropriate environment for such seminars and following them up. He also thanked Mr. Youseif Alghul, the Unit supervisor, for the efforts he makes to that regard.
Still, the seminar touched upon analyzing the inference method adopted by the Islamic jurists (Fuqaha) in terms of seeking the jurisprudence provisions from its source in a series of theorems and givens. This in turn spurs the motivation of those interested in jurisprudence towards inference as part of a craft based upon mental sport and intellectual effort. Such a craft aims at possessing the gift of jurisprudence reconstructing and the reasoning capacity if its conditions are met.
The seminar included two pivots: the first pivot deals with introductions related to the inference building through demonstrating what is meant by jurisprudence and its rules and principles, as part of theorems and givens and hypotheses and perceptions. Then it tackled the similarities between Jurisprudence and the mathematical sciences in terms of the constructional system for inference. And it touched upon the most important hypotheses and principles upon which the inference is built through indicating the reality of the legal provision and the meaning of evidence and its conditions.
The second pivot revolves around analyzing the steps which the jurist follows in terms of seeking the legal provision through a practical example: starting with forming an image about the topic whose provision is sought, then searching for evidence and identifying the connotation aspects, and matching the evidence with the possible inference source. After that, we verify that the jurisprudence rule terms match with the description of the detailed evidence. Finally, we choose the valid provision coming out of the discussions made in that regard, and through its conformity to the jurisprudence system it falls under.
The seminar concluded with a discussion opened between the attendance and the seminar presenter. And the discussion witnessed great interaction from the attendance about the topic of the seminar.
