The College of Health Sciences in Al-Qunfudah (Girls Section), in cooperation with the Deanship of Preparatory Year, held the exhibition of physical activity and health food, under the slogan “My Health Comes First”, on Wednesday, 12-06-1439 AH, at the deanship headquarters in Al-Qunfudah.
The exhibition aims at raising awareness, among the female students, on the importance of physical fitness and promotes health education to achieve a better healthy level; in addition to building healthy patterns of life for individuals, and consolidating the principles of social responsibility so as to achieve the Saudi vision 2030. This vision emphasizes the importance of following a healthy and balanced lifestyle, which is the cornerstone of the highest quality standards of life
It included several parts, such as healthy food, misconduct habits, sports corner, body mass index (BMI). It, also, included an initiative (You are not alone) that was launched by Ihsan Voluntary Team for walking and sports challenge. This initiative aims to promote the concept of holistic health and encourage physical activity through walking.
In addition to the exhibition, there were awareness lectures. Dr. Hanan Al-Sohby, a doctor at al-Qunfudah General Hospital, had participated in the exhibition through delivering a lecture discussing the reasons for diseases’ emergency and proliferation, which we call diseases of the modern-day society or lifestyle diseases. The weak physical activity is one of those. She, also, clarified that the rapid progress of modern societies, welfare and excessive inactivity caused the proliferation of many diseases; obesity, diabetes and arteries diseases are most remarkable ones. Ms. Dalal Al-Khairi, therapeutic dietitian at Modilf General Hospital, gave a lecture entitled “Nutrition and Beauty”.
The exhibition was welcomed by everyone. Finally, all the female students participating in the exhibition received certificates of thanks.
