النبذة
تعود نشأة القسم إلى التطور الأكاديمي الذي شهدته جامعة أم القرى، حيث تم تأسيس كلية الطب والعلوم الطبية عام 1416هـ (1995م)، ثم صدر القرار في عام 1426هـ بتحويل قسم العلوم الطبية إلى كلية مستقلة باسم كلية العلوم الطبية التطبيقية، والتي يندرج تحتها قسم علوم المختبرات الإكلينيكية.
يقدم قسم علوم المختبرات الإكلينيكية برنامج بكالوريوس طب المختبرات وماجستير علوم المختبرات الإكلينيكية وهي من البرامج الحيوية في القطاع الصحي، حيث يركز على إعداد كوادر مؤهلة قادرة على إجراء التحاليل التشخيصية الدقيقة، والمساهمة في الوقاية من الأمراض وتشخيصها، وربط النتائج المخبرية بالحالة السريرية، إضافة إلى تطوير الاختبارات المعملية وضمان جودة الأداء داخل المختبرات.
يقدم القسم برنامج بكالوريوس طب المختبرات، والذي يمتد لمدة أربع سنوات دراسية، تليها سنة امتياز تدريبية. ويُمنح الخريج مسمى أخصائي مختبر. وقد أسهم البرنامج في تخريج عشرات الدفعات من الكوادر المؤهلة التي تخدم القطاع الصحي محلياً.
كما حصل البرنامج سابقا على اعتماد دولي من الهيئة الألمانية للاعتماد الأكاديمي (AHPGS) عام 1436هـ، مما يعكس التزامه بالمعايير العالمية ويعزز من موثوقية وكفاءة مخرجاته.
كما يقدم القسم برنامج ماجستير علوم المختبرات الإكلينيكية والذي يمتد لمدة سنتين دراسيتين ويتخصص في ثلاث مسارات رئيسية (مسار الكيمياء الحيوية، مسار الكائنات الدقيقة، ومسار علم الامراض).
The department was established as part of Umm Al-Qura University's academic development. The College of Medicine and Medical Sciences was founded in 1416H (1995), and in 1426H, royal approval led to the transformation of the Department of Medical Sciences into an independent college, the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, under which the Clinical Laboratory Sciences Department operates.
The department offers both a Bachelor of Laboratory Medicine and a Master of Clinical Laboratory Sciences. These programs are considered essential within the healthcare sector, as they focus on preparing qualified professionals capable of performing accurate diagnostic tests, contributing to disease prevention and diagnosis, correlating laboratory findings with clinical conditions, developing laboratory techniques, and ensuring quality assurance in laboratory practice.
The Bachelor of Laboratory Medicine program spans four academic years, followed by a one-year internship. Graduates are awarded the professional title of Laboratory Specialist. The program has contributed to graduating numerous cohorts of qualified professionals serving the healthcare sector locally. It has also previously obtained international accreditation from the German Accreditation Agency (AHPGS) in 1436H, reflecting its alignment with global standards and enhancing the reliability and quality of its graduates.
In addition, the department offers a Master of Clinical Laboratory Sciences, which extends over two academic years and includes three major tracks: Clinical Biochemistry, Clinical Microbiology, and Clinical Pathology.
