Abstract:
The study aimed to verify the effectiveness of learning by Gilberts' Prosody Pyramid in promoting some listening comprehension skills among primary fifth grade female pupils. To achieve this aim; the study used the descriptive method and the experimental method. The researcher prepared the study tools including Listening Comprehension Skills List and Listening Comprehension Skills Test. In addition, the researcher prepared the study materials including Educational Activities Pamphlet and Female Teacher Guide. The study sample consisted of (60) primary fifth grade female pupils, as there were (30) female pupils in the control group and (30) female pupils in the experimental group who were selected randomly. The study concluded that there was a statistically significant difference at the level (a ≤ 0.05) between the mean scores of the experimental group and the control group students in posttest of listening comprehension skills in favor of the experimental group students. There were statistically significant differences at the same level (a ≤ 0.05) between the mean scores of the experimental group students in pre and post-tests in favor of post-tests of listening comprehension skills test. The study recommended linking courses to different educational strategies including teaching by Gilbert's Prosody Pyramid, holding training courses for teachers to employ Gilbert's Prosody Pyramid in the educational process, and conducting similar future studies that include other language skills and studies for curriculum development in the primary grade.
