Abstract:
The study aimed to find out the relationship between the presence of a child with a disability and the mothers’ thinking about separating from the husband according to the type of disability and the number of children in the family, and to know the relationship between the presence of a child with a disability and the mothers’ thinking about having another child according to the type of disability, and to know the relationship between the type of the child’s disability and the feelings of Mothers of children with disabilities (rejection, emptiness), and exploring the differences in the responses of the study sample (married mothers, divorced mothers) about the relationship between the type of child disability and the feelings of mothers of children with disabilities (rejection, emptiness) in the city of Makkah. The study sample consisted of mothers of children with disabilities who receive special education services in private and governmental centers in the city of Makkah. The number of sample members was (267) mothers with an average age of (41.93) and a standard deviation of (10.48). The study concluded that having a child with a disability does not affect the mothers' thinking about having other children, and that the presence of a child with a disability does not increase the divorce cases between parents. The study results also showed that the type of child's disability does not affect the increase in the incidence of divorce between parents. And that the number of children in the family does not affect the thinking of mothers of children with disabilities to separate from their husbands.
