Since its establishment, Umm Al-Qura University, represented by the Institute of Manuscripts and the Revival of Islamic Heritage, has served the compilation, indexing and investigation of manuscripts. To continue applying this methodology and fostering its prominent role, the institute aims to achieve the following objectives:
First: collecting Islamic heritage, both copies and originals, from inside and outside the Saudi Kingdom.
Second: archiving and indexing the manuscripts, and making them available for the researchers.
Third: verifying Islamic manuscripts in various fields of knowledge (particularly that which serves the university's research priorities).
Fourth: presenting and maintaining the verified and published intellectual output of the researchers in the field of Islamic heritage.
Fifth: offering a qualification in the field of verifying manuscripts and preserving them.
Sixth: cooperating with similar bodies, inside and outside the country, and exchanging manuscripts and experience with them.
Seventh: providing specialized scientific consultation in the field of manuscript compilation, indexing, and investigation.
