Unit Description
A unit dedicated to developing and enhancing effective productive English language skills (speaking and writing) to equip students with the communication skills needed to achieve their academic and professional aspirations.
The Unit performs several functions to achieve this goal, including:
Developing high-quality educational curricula specifically designed to suit the needs and interests of Umm Al-Qura University students.
Contributing to the development of faculty members’ performance.
Developing the learning environment to encourage effective use of English in classrooms.
Developing the assessment process.

Including highly experienced members in the committee.
Providing continuous professional development programs to keep faculty members up to date with the latest theories and practices in teaching productive English language skills.
Maintaining continuous communication with faculty members to understand their experiences and perspectives, and accordingly improve the programs offered by the committee.
Develop the learning environment and encourage effective English communication in classrooms through:
Designing interactive and motivating programs and tasks aligned with students’ interests.
Providing collaborative opportunities to enhance student interaction and encourage the use of English in classrooms.
Creating a supportive and encouraging learning atmosphere where students feel comfortable actively participating and practicing communication in English.
Develop the assessment process through:
Designing a comprehensive program to monitor students’ performance development and identify areas for improvement.
Using multiple systematic assessment methods to meet diverse student needs (such as continuous assessment, peer assessment, self-assessment, and teacher assessment).
Providing continuous and systematic assessment to help students monitor their progress and set their learning goals.
