Unit Description
The Curriculum Unit at the English Language Institute (ELI) is responsible for selecting appropriate courses to meet the changing English language needs of Umm Al-Qura University students.
This is achieved by identifying measurable learning outcomes, selecting suitable materials, and establishing an appropriate assessment framework.
The Unit also seeks to enhance students’ learning experiences by implementing effective improvements.

Objectives
Review English language courses and propose plans to update and develop curricula to meet students’ changing needs.
Define clear and measurable learning outcomes for each level and course, reflecting language skills, communicative competence, and linguistic abilities expected to be achieved by students, in collaboration with faculty members.
Recommend appropriate and relevant content to achieve learning objectives and outcomes according to the level and course, while adhering to the University’s general policies.
Establish a general assessment framework aligned with curriculum objectives and learning outcomes to measure students’ proficiency and language development.
Study recommendations and suggestions received from faculty members and students to evaluate curriculum effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, support professional development, and address emerging needs.
