Unit Description
An affiliate of the English Language Institute (ELI) at Umm Al-Qura University, this Unit is dedicated to determining scientific research priorities and coordinating the research activities of faculty members, in alignment with the vision, mission, and objectives of both the ELI and the University. It also works to foster scientific research among faculty and support collaborative research with local, regional, and international educational and research institutions, thereby contributing to the advancement of scientific research in the field of learning and teaching English for General and Specific Purposes (EGP/ESP).

To advance knowledge in the field of learning, teaching, and assessment of English for General and Specific Purposes by providing a supportive research environment that encourages collaboration among the Institute's faculty and local and international partners.

To continuously strive towards enhancing the quality of scientific research in the field of learning, teaching, and assessment of English for General and Specific Purposes.
Objectives
To document and track the research activities of the Institute's faculty members.
To establish a strategic list of research priorities in the field of learning, teaching, and assessment of English for General and Specific Purposes within the Institute.
To support research collaboration between the Institute's faculty members and local, regional, and international partners.
To provide guidance on all matters related to scientific research in accordance with the directives of the University and the Institute.
To review proposed research projects and establish timelines for their execution.
To document the scientific impact of the Institute by promoting research activities across social media platforms and the official University website.
To organize seminars, workshops, and scientific conferences.
