The College of Computing in Al-Qunfudhah is proud to participate in the 8th International Conference on Islamic Applications in Computer Science and Technologies on 26 and 27 December, 2020 A.C. The college has submitted a scientific research by Dr. Abdul-Kareem Abdul-Qadir and the female students: Rahaf Al-Faqih, Ebtisam Al-Abdali, Fatimah Al-Zubaidi, Ebtisam Al-Rshidi, and Afaf Al-Harbi, entitled, "Towards a Semantic Research System in the Glorious Qur'an", which bears the number 35. The research will be delivered orally, Allah willing, during the conference, via the internet. The college hopes this work to be a continuation in giving much importance to the holy Quran by using modern capabilities, such as artificial intelligence, automated processing techniques and text mining in building a semantic system in the Holy Qur'an. The system will provide an interface via the web browser through which a word or a group of words can be entered to find the verses which contain them. All verses with that word will appear, either the verses which include any words with the same root or just the verses containing the same word that was entered.
The whole Noble Qur'an was indexed using XML technology, to achieve compatibility and reuse, and all the Qur'anic surahs were divided into verses. Moreover, the research relied on the dictionary of the words of the Holy Qur'an by Dr. Muhammad Zaki, published in the Al-Mishkat site on the global network, and the Qur'anic Arabic Corpus, which provides an ontology for the meanings of the words of the Noble Qur'an.
