Overview of the Trainer:
Dr. Luay bin Mashaal Al-Orabi
- Assistant professor at the Department of Computer Science, Umm Al-Qura University.
- He obtained a Bachelor of Computer Science from Umm Al-Qura University in 2008 A.C., and a MSc and PhD. in the field of computer science from the University of Minnesota, Twin City, Minnesota, USA, in 2014 and 2018 respectively.
- His research interests include: big data databases and the management and analysis of spatial and temporal data, as well as the management of distributed geographic systems.
- Research of Dr. Luay has published many scientific papers in well-known scientific journals, such as ACM SIG- MOD, ACM SIGSPATIAL, IEEE ICDE, IEEE MDM, VLDB and Geoinformatics Journal.
- He won the gold medal in the field of research at the largest spatial computing conference: ACM SIGSPATIAL/GIS 2018.
- He won the best scientific paper at the SSTD conference, 2017 A.C.
- His research ideas reached the final rounds for the competition of the best research idea at the ACM SIGMOD 2017 conference. He also won the best presentation award at the U-Spatial conference in 2014 A.C.
- He is a member and a scientific peer reviewer at scientific conferences and journals in the field of big data computing: ACM SIGSPATIAL/GIS and IEEE Big Spatial Data.
