By Allah's guidance and support, the introductory meeting for female students at the Department of Physics was held with the participation of the female academic staff members on Tuesday, 8 Rajab, 1441 A.H., under the title, 'Physics: The Present and the Future'. This meeting was held in collaboration with the Vice Dean of Student Affairs (female section) in the presence of Her Excellency the Vice Dean of Al-Qunfudhah University College, Dr. Sharifah Al-Hazimi, Her Excellency the Vice Dean of Female Student Affairs, Dr. Nuwair Bajabir, and Her Excellency the Vice Dean of the College for Educational Affairs, Dr. Jazi Abdul-Wahid.
The meeting started with a recitation of the Noble Qur'an, followed by an introduction offered by Her Excellency, Ms. Fatimah Al-Shaqiqi. Afterwards, the Deputy Head of the Department, Ms. Tahani Al-Kurida, delivered a speech in which she welcomed the attendants: the vice deans of the college, academic staff members, and female students at the Department of Physics. She gave an introduction about physics, its importance in our life, its different applications, and the objectives of this meeting.
Her Excellency Ms. Sirajah informed new students about the plan of the department. Ms. Samar Al-Harbi then presented some ideas and suggestions related to studying in English. Her Excellency Dr. Sumaiah Awad informed academically dismissed female students about their status. Moreover, Dr. Jazi Abdul-Wahid offered some important advice and answered the inquiries of the female students. After that, Her Excellency Dr. Huda Al-Kawwash provided some information about the laboratories of the department, and gave some guidelines related to safety and security.
Her Excellency Ms. Taghrid Al-Ghamidi participated with some brochures and clip arts about physics, which were distributed among female students, while Ms. Aminah Al-Kudaisi participated by designing the presentation of the meeting, which was coordinated by Her Excellency, Ms. Sirajah Al-Sharif.
Competitions in physics, conducted by Ms. Wi’am Al-Nijaidi and Ms. Sirajah Al-Sharif, were held among the female students to spread the spirit of meaningful entertainment and plant a pleasant memory in their minds about the meeting.
The meeting ended by honoring distinguished female students, the female role model student, and female students participating in the Future Makers Club, under the noble patronage of the Head of the Department, to encourage and disseminate the spirit of constructive competition among them. Some prizes were also offered to winners and members to honor their outstanding efforts.
