On Thursday 19 Jumada Al-Thani 1441 A.H., corresponding to 13 February, 2020 A.C., the College of Business Administration at Umm Al-Qura University concluded the last meeting in a series of workshops presented by Professor Khaled Al-Husaini, Supervisor of Scientific Research at Portsmouth University in the United Kingdom and the accredited external referee with a workshop entitled "Applying to Study Abroad and Good Preparation for It."

The meeting was opened by His Excellency Dr. Ahmad bin Omar Bablghith, supervisor of the UQU Vice Presidency for Educational Affairs. His Excellency gave a speech in which he thanked the College of Business Administration for organizing such useful scientific meetings. His Excellency welcomed Prof. Al-Husaini, and also urged the teaching assistants and lecturers to try to benefit greatly from the guest speaker's experiences in this regard.

After that, the workshop started. It was moderated by His Excellency Dr. Ayman Adham, Vice Dean for Educational Affairs. Several topics that serve those interested in studying abroad were reviewed, such as how to prepare for applying, contacting academic supervisors, and preparing to meet the supervisor to obtain admission to complete postgraduate studies abroad.

Prof. Al-Husaini also spoke about the challenges and difficulties facing scholarship students abroad. He emphasized that studying for a master’s and doctorate degree requires a more seriousness and diligence than merely being an intelligent person. He also pointed out that the study requires a balance between personal and academic life and the two should not be confused. Al-Husaini warned against listening to frustrated and passive people.

The discussion then opened. Enquiries and questions from the attendees were taken in the second part of the workshop. His Excellency Dr. Basem Muhammad Anas Makhdum joined the Q&A session. He is the General Supervisor of the University Joint Supervision Program, and the former General Supervisor of the UQU Office of Scholarships. In the Q&A session His Excellency answered the enquiries of the attendees regarding the duties and obligations of the scholarship students and their relationship to the Saudi Cultural Mission. His Excellency also explained the regular steps that the scholarship students should follow, starting from the idea of scholarship until the end of the mission.

At the conclusion of the workshop, Dr. Ihsan Al-Muataz, Dean of the College of Business Administration, said that it is important to enjoy this stage of study and scholarship, and not make it too hard for yourself. His Excellency also thanked Prof. Khaled Al-Husaini for his work in the three workshops, and promised to hold more workshops in the future. He also praised the good turnout of the workshops, especially from the female side.
