College of Health Sciences in Al-Qunfudhah Celebrates World Diabetes Day

Under the auspices of His Excellency the Dean of Al-Qunfudhah University College and the College of Health Sciences, Prof. Omar bin Abdullah Al-Hazzazi, His Excellency the Dean of the College of Medicine in Al-Qunfudhah, Dr. Abdullah Al-Sa`ati, His Excellency the Director of Al-Qunfudhah Public Hospital, the specialist Hasan Al-Nashiri, His Excellency the Vice Dean of the College of Health Sciences, Dr. Naif Al-Suhaimi, and Her Excellency the Vice Dean of the College of Medicine (female section), Dr. Nawal Al-Hazimi, an impressive ceremony was held on the occasion of the World Diabetes Day (14 November) at Al-Bandar Mall in Al-Qunfudhah.

The activities of this day aimed at shedding light on the increase in the numbers of those suffering from diabetes in the world in general, and in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in particular. Citizens were informed about the importance of medical examinations and dietary behavior changes, such as decreasing the amount of starches and sugar and increasing the amount of vegetables. They were also informed about the importance of practicing sports. In these activities, analyses giving instant results were performed for citizens to measure their blood sugar levels.

These activities presented training opportunities for the students of the health colleges in voluntary work and offering services to the community.

Their Excellencies Prof. Ashraf Uwais and Prof. Ahmad Hijazi supervised the students of the College of Health Sciences in Al-Qunfudhah, and Dr. Nawal Al-Hazimi was the supervisor for the female students of the College of Medicine. Al-Qunfudhah Public Hospital was represented by Mr. Ali Al-Ziyadi, along with a nursing team from the Diabetes Center: Ms. Sharifah Al-Hilali, Ms. Qalilah Al-Marhabi, Ms. Hanan Al-Hasani, and Dr. Yasmin Mahran.

The citizens expressed their gratitude for these activities, and were happy to receive the medical examinations and analyses.
