Physical Education Students Do Voluntary Activities

Within the framework of the university voluntary work, the students of the Department of Physical Education did a number of voluntary activities targeting the community inside and outside the university, with the aim of raising awareness on the importance of maintaining the cleanliness of the university facilities so as to create positive educational environment. The activities were carried out under the supervision of Dr. Yusuf bin Atiyah Al-Thubaiti, Head of the Department of Physical Education, and the follow-up and cooperation of Dr. Sultan bin Abdulsamad Al-Khidri.

Throughout the activities, the students cleaned the academic hub, collected over 40 trash bags, cleaned the main lobby of the College of Education, and cleaned the prayer room on the first floor and renewed its carpets. They also cleaned the bathrooms, and washed and painted the walls of the halls and the classrooms of the social building. Besides, the volunteers distributed 100 meals to the UQU students at the academic hub of the College of Education under the slogan “Healthy Breakfast with US”. Furthermore, 10 food boxes were offered to needy families in Makkah Al-Mukarramah.

It is noteworthy that the students have shown positive engagement and willingness to participate in the voluntary activities, as the number of volunteers reached 300 students.

The activities were concluded with serving lunch for the volunteers and the department’s faculty members, in attendance of Dr. Sultan bin Abdulsamad Al-Khidri. During the lunch, Dr. Al-Thubaiti extended his thanks to Dr. Al-Khidri and the volunteers, and confirmed the importance of voluntary work, for its positive impact on the society and the students. Over and above, Dr. Tawfeeq Al-Bakri, Vice-Dean for Educational Affairs praised the great efforts of the students and emphasized their role as leaders in the society inside and outside the university.

On his part, Dr. Ali bin Musleh Al-Matrafi, Dean of the College of Education, met the volunteers, praised their efforts, and urged them to continue their participation in voluntary work to further serve their community. Eventually, photos of the activities were taken in the presence of the students accompanied by Dr. Al-Matrafi, and Dr. Suhail Al-Harbi and Dr. Tawfeeq Al-Bakri, the Vice-Deans of the College.
