Education College Holds Scientific Forum Marking the Arabic Language World Day

With the attendance of Dr. Ali ibn Mislah Almatrfi; the dean of the Education College, Dr. Mohammed Ga’afar Sabit; the dean of the University Development, Prof. Abdullah ibn Nasser Alqarni; the dean of Arabic Language College, the College’s vice deans: Dr. Suhail ibn Salim Alharbi, Dr. Farid ibn Ali Alghamdi and Dr. Tawfiq Albakri; department heads, faculty members and postgraduate studies students,  the Education College at the Um Al-Qura University (UQU), represented by the Curriculum and Methodology Department, organized a scientific forum as part of the activities of the World Arabic Language Day 2016 under the theme “Strengthening the Dissemination of the Arabic Language”. The Forum took place on Sunday, December 25th, 2016.  

The Forum started with a scientific lecture titled “the Arabic Language: an Identity and Dissemination” given by Dr. Adel ibn Ahmed Salim Bana’amah, the Libraries dean and faculty member at the Arabic Language College. Then Dr. Said ibn Abdullah Alqarni, the director of the Arabic Language Research Center at the Scientific Research Deanship; and the College’s faculty member, presented a paper titled “ Scientific Arabic Terminology in terms of Recession and Dissemination”. Dr. Abdullah ibn Mohammed Ibn A’ayd Al Tamim, Curriculum and Arabic Language Methodology associate professor, and chairman of the Scientific and Cultural Committee at the Curriculum and Methodology Department hosted the Forum.      

At the end of the Forum, Dr. Ali, the dean of the Education College, lauded such a scientific gathering, calling for scientific and research harmony and cooperation among all the University’s colleges, which brings every benefit to it. He went on to point out that specialists at the University’s colleges are our extension and our strategic depth, adding that joining our efforts as educationalists with the linguists or others from other colleges will bring about quantum leap and a scientific stride in the University’s scientific and research course. Similarly, the Postgraduate Studies Dean called on conducting a workshop, including all the Arabic language specialists at the University, whether in the Arabic Language College, Arabic Language Institute for Non-native Speakers or the curriculum and Arabic language specialists at the Education College.  The workshop aims at lifting up and disseminating the Arabic language and boosting efforts to that effect.  And this in turn contributes to upgrading and elevating the language of the holy Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet.  

Meanwhile, personally and on behalf of colleagues specialized in the Arabic language curriculum and its methodology, Dr. Khalid ibn Khatir Ala’abaidi, the head of the Curriculum and Methodology Department, called that such a Forum will be the beginning of next scientific gatherings where the efforts of both linguists and educationalists are joined and exchanged; in order to chart up bright, promising future for the Arabic language and its teaching. This in turn contributes to boosting the Arabic Language researches and studies and the future of its teaching.    

Concluding the Forum, Dr. Ali, the dean of the Education College, thanked its guests awarding them shields. It is worth mentioning that the Saudi Culture TV broadcasted this important scientific Forum.
