Within the framework of the collaboration between the Deanship of Library Affairs for Branches Affairs and Al-Qunfudhah University College, Dr. Al-Saeed Dardarah, Associate Professor at the Department of Education and Psychology, presented a training course entitled, "Intensive Reading Skills and Access to Library Services". The course aimed to foster and consolidate the positive attitude towards reading and accessing the library in the students of Al-Qunfudhah University College.

The training course tackled a number of important themes, including the following:

  • Intensive reading skills: a detailed presentation was given on the importance of intensive reading, its benefits, phases, and conditions.
  • Information awareness skills and fourth-generation warfare (4GW): the presentation provided definitions of psychological warfare and rumors, and delineated the ways to combat online disinformation, the spread of fake news, and online rumors. The presentation also included the tips of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) to verify the truthfulness and accuracy of information.
  • The skills needed to access library services, and how to avail oneself of such services: this theme was addressed by providing models of the services provided by the King Abdullah University Library at Al-Abdiyyah UQU Branch, and showcasing the Saudi digital databases.

At the end of the course, Dr. Al-Saeed Dardarah presented the "Reading for All" initiative. The initiative urges the students to read a book, summarize it, and make an audio clip about it. The audio clips should then be exchanged among the students. Moreover, each student should gift the books that he does not need to whoever needs them of his colleagues.
