The UQU President Receives the Dean of Information Technology on the Occasion of Winning the Excellence Award in Digital Innovation

His Excellency Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, the President of Umm Al-Qura University, congratulated His Excellency Dr. Fahd bin Muhammad Al-Dussari, the Dean of Information Technology, for winning the Excellence Award in Digital Innovation. This took place during the reception of Dr. Al-Dussari at the UQU President's office today, Wednesday. In his meeting with Dr. Al-Dussari, His Excellency the UQU President lauded the great development witnessed by the deanship.

Winning the Excellence Award in digital innovation constitutes a new achievement by His Excellency the Dean of Information Technology, surpassing hundreds of participants in an international competition organized by one of the largest international companies in the consulting and information technology sector.

Dr. Al-Dussari made it to the top 50 finalists, surpassing hundreds of competitors, and successfully finished second in the competition which was organized by the International Data Corporation (IDC), a leading international company in the fields of consultancy, event organization, and performance measurement of global markets in the field of information technology and communication.

In addition to the Dean of Technology at Umm Al-Qura University, among the winners of the Excellence Award in digital innovation were the IT officials in the Ministry of Housing, the National Water Company, and the BinDawood Group. Moreover, the Ministry of Defense won the Excellence Award in Information Technology, along with the Ministries of Health, Communications and Information Technology, and the Civil Service. The Arab National Bank and the Satorp Group also won the Excellence Award in Information Security.

The judging committee included the CEO of the governmental e-transactions transformation program, "Yesser", Eng. Ali Usairi; the Director of Information Technology at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Jason Ross; the Director of Information Technology at the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Hisham Hammami; and the Director General of Support Services at the General Entertainment Authority, Ibrahim Al-Muqbil.
