Under the generous sponsorship of the Vice Dean of the College and Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Dr. Sharifah Al Hazimi, and in the framework of the Smart Community Partnership of Al-Qunfudhah University College with the Ministry of Health in the Governorate, the second awareness lecture was held on Thursday, 10 Safar 1441 A.H., at 9:00 am, under the title: "Have a Checkup Now", within the events of the World Breast Cancer Day. The event was directed to female students of the extension, and was presented by Dr. Ulwiyyah Bawahab.
She gave information on breast cancer, referring to how people are scared of it, and presented a statistical introduction explaining the extent it has spread in the world as well as the Saudi Kingdom in recent times, along with the reasons for this spread. She further explained its symptoms and ways of detecting it with mammograms or self-detection. She also mentioned a number of tips on prevention, the most important of which are healthy food and sports. She stressed that early detection, through periodic checkups, helps reduce its risk significantly.
After the lecture, the college presented certificates of thanks to the doctor and the accompanying professors. Awareness leaflets prepared by the employees of the extension were also distributed. The lecture was attended by faculty members, administrators, and students.
