Under the generous sponsorship of the Vice Dean of Female Students Affairs, Dr. Sharifah Al-Hazmi, and within the framework of the Smart Community Partnership of Al-Qunfudhah University College with the Ministry of Health in the Governorate, an awareness lecture entitled, "Have a Checkup Now", was given on 9/2/1441 at 9 a.m. in the college theater as part of the events of the World Breast Cancer Day.
The lecture was given by Dr. Sarin Mahjoub. She gave information about breast cancer, referring to how people are scared of it, and presented a statistical introduction that showed how widespread it has become in the world, and recently in Saudi Arabia. She touched on the reasons of its spread, explaining its symptoms and ways of detecting it with mammograms or self-detection. She also mentioned some tips to prevent it, most importantly healthy food and sport. She stressed that early detection, through periodic checkups, helps reduce its risk significantly.
After the lecture, the college presented certificates of thanks to the doctor and the accompanying professors. Awareness cards and leaflets prepared by the college employees were also distributed. The lecture was attended by faculty members, administrators, and students.
