Secretary of the Education Colleges Deans’ Committee Attends the 13th Meeting of Secretaries

On behalf of Dr. Ali ibn Mislah Almatrafi, the dean of the Education College, in his capacity as a the Secretary of the Education Colleges Deans’ Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council’s (GCC) universities and higher education institutions, Dr. Suhail ibn Salim Alharbi, the Education College vice dean, participated in the thirteenth meeting of the Joint work Committee’s secretaries of the higher education field at the GCC’S states. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, on November 14th-15th, 2016. The meeting resulted in a set of recommendations of which are:

  1. As far as the fifth plan programs are concerned, they are to be completed by the trusteeships of the committees, and to be sent for the General Trusteeship.
  2. As regards the academic accreditation, the General Trusteeship provides the trusteeships of the committees with what has been achieved by the tasks and mechanism of the gulf network. This aims at guaranteeing the quality of the higher education following the meeting to be held at the headquarters of the General Trusteeship. 
  3. Concerning the long distance education and e-learning, the head of the General Trusteeship’s Award continues designing and developing the e-courses at the GCC universities and higher education institutions. He is to submit the results of the Award’s work and its winners to the Committee’s periodical meetings; to learn from such an experiment. Also, the secretaries of the joint work committees keep providing the General Trusteeship with the activities and events to be organized at the gulf-based universities, which are related to their work. This is an initial step to be circulated to the rest of the universities and institutions to participate in them through presenting researches or through attending and submitting reports demonstrating the status of the long distance education in the colleges which they represent.
  4. Making a point of having the GCC’s universities and higher education institutions post the link of the “Jisr” gulf database at their main websites to benefit from it.
  5. Honoring the trusteeships of the joint work committees according to the Award’s standards and mechanisms approved by the Universities Presidents’ Committee.
  6. Having the General Trusteeship submit a report about the next meeting of the GCC’s Universities and Higher Education Institutions Presidents’and Directors’ Committeeabout the work and performance ofthe trusteeships of the committees to look at it and act accordingly.
  7. It has been agreed that the fourteenth meeting is to be held in November 2016, at the Ta’if University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Suhail ibn Dalim Alharbi extended his thanks and gratitude to the University President and Dr. Ali ibn Mislah Almatrafi, the dean of the Education College, for their confidence and constant support for the College, and for highlighting its leading role among the GCC’s Education Colleges Trusteeship.
