A Seminar under the Title: E-Learning Spaces – an Attempt for Creating a Motivation

Under the auspices of Dean of the Qunfudah University College; Dr. Hashim ibn Ahmed Alsamadani, and within the frame of cooperation and integrity between the Qunfudah University College and the E-Learning and Distance Education Deanship in a manner that serves the educational process and the University’s future vision, the Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research and Development Vice Deanship organized a seminar titled “E-Learning – an Attempt for Creating Motivation”. The seminar took place at the theatre of the University College, on Monday, October 31rt, 2016.   

Mr. Yousief Ibrahim Alghul, the College’s certified trainer, presented the seminar at the E-Learning and Distance Education Deanship. The seminar tackled four spaces: 

The first space: focuses on changing the convictions about the e-learning. It touched upon the psychological and philosophical depth for change, and how it occurs within the human soul, and association of the scientific and educational revolutions and how they serve each other. Many facts and misconceptions about the e-learning have been reviewed in an attempt for changing the inner convictions of the students and academic staff members to adopt a positive attitude towards the e-learning.  

Second space: the e-learning space in the twenty first century; it tackled many facts about the education in the twenty first century. A number of videos showing the education in this century with all specialties have been played. Also, a host of info graphics have been presented showing the technical and technological development in the Kingdom, and how we can capitalize on it in terms of the educational aspect in a way that goes with the students’ traits and establishes the belief in change towards the e-learning.  

Third space: e-learning space at the Umm Al-Qura University- personal experiment; it discussed the e-learning at the University, and the services the E-Learning Deanship provides for the academic staff members and students as well. Similarly, a personal experiment related to Mr. Yousief  Alghul have been posted at the University’s e-learning website, in which he applied the reversed learning strategy. The strategy involved reviewing the electronic content and the students’ discussions and the assignments given. This aims at urging the academic staff members to adopt and use the capabilities available at the website in their teaching.    

Fourth space: is the discussion space; such a space took the form of discussion among the attendance, academic staff members and students, and the seminar’s host. It witnessed great interaction of the attendance, and they showed great enthusiasm towards the e-learning.      

The seminar was drawn to a close with a speech given by the Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research and Development Vice Dean; Dr. Mohammed Alhazimi in which he thanked the seminar’s host and the attendance; academic staff members and students. He further underscored that such meetings are to continue, promising more seminars and training courses for the academic staff members and students in the e-learning field in the days to come.
