An Orientation Held for the Fresh Students of the Market Department

On October 5th, 2016, the Business Administration College Market Department at the Umm Al-Qura University organized an orientation session for the Department’s fresh students. The students were received with welcome words, and cases containing the study plan, sketch of the College’s building; note pad and a pen were distributed to them.     

Present were the Ruba’a Zakhir-based University Studies vice deanship, Prof. Salwa Almahamdi, Buiness Administration vice dean, Dr. Suzan Wazan, academic staff members and the College’s staff.

The orientation started with recitation out of the holy Quran, followed by displaying a documentary about the University. Afterwards, Dr. Salwa Almahmadi delivered a speech to the fresh students in which she welcomed them and gave them some advice. She also called on them to direct their efforts for science and learning to advance the society.  This is followed by a speech given by Dr. Suzan Wazan in which she expressed her happiness with the fresh students joining the marketing department. She also wished them distinction and success.   She similarly familiarized them with the College’s student clubs, and urged them to take advantage of their leisure time and join them to hone their skills.

Then Ms. Manal Alshahri, the Marketing Department deputy head, delivered a speech in which she shed light on the Department’s status and its importance in our modern days, and provided an overview about it. She also touched upon some of the rules and procedures related to the students regarding recording their timetables, absenteeism, and delay among others.  Shortly after, Dr. Wafaa Shaqrun, a member of the Department, spoke about the study plan, and pinpointed the requisites of some courses. And Ms. Haim Almohammadi, a member of the Department, tackled the importance of the Department in our today’s society, and touched upon its fields and job opportunities. Likewise, Dr. Nura Zawa, a member of the Department, gave some tips for the students about brushing up their English language, and hold to the timetable of the lectures to benefit from the scientific material taught. She also spoke about change in our life and how the student can change her life style for better.

And Ms. Nour Al-Oataibi of the Student and Disciplinary Affairs Unit broached some of the College’s rules and procedures, and urged the students to abide by them. By the same token, some graduate gave some advice to the fresh students on taking advantage of their leisure time and taking part in the College’s activities. Some other students recommended some entities that teach courses for the Department’s students and strengthen their marketing skills. At the end of the orientation, recreational competitions were organized for the students with prizes being distributed.
