The College of Health Sciences in Al-Qunfudhah won the football tournament cup that was organized by Al-Qunfudhah College of Engineering for Umm Al-Qura University's colleges in Al-Qunfudhah under the name "Martyrs of the Duty." The tournament began on 17 Rabi` Al-Awwal 1440 A.H. and lasted ten days. Eight teams participated, from the College of Medicine, the College of Health Sciences, the College of Computer Science, the Preparatory Year, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, Construction Engineering, and the academic staff team. All matches were played at 9:00 p.m. at Al-Usturah stadium in Rahman village under floodlights.
The final match on Wednesday night 27 Rabi` Al-Awwal, 1440 A.H. was played by the two teams of the College of Health Sciences and the Construction Engineering. The match ended in the original time in a 1-1 draw. Then the team of the College of Health Sciences scored from penalty kicks.
The final match was attended by His Excellency Dr. Jabir Sa`id Al-Zahrani, Dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science, a number of the vice-deans of the colleges, the heads of the departments, the academic staff, administrative employees, and the students.
At the end of the match, Dr. Jabir Al-Zahrani and Prof. Ashraf Awais, on behalf of Prof. Omar Al-Hazzazi, the Dean of the College of Health Sciences in Al-Qunfudhah, handed the medals to the two teams and handed over the tournament cup to the team of the College of Health Sciences in Al-Qunfudhah, whose goalkeeper Muhammad Manna` Al-Abdali was awarded best goalkeeper in the tournament.
