UQU President Pays Visit to College of Education

On Monday, Duh al-Hijjah 25, 1437H, the UQU President, Dr. Bakri bin Maatouq Assas paid a visit to number of colleges located at the academic zone of Al-Abidiyyah campus, accompanied by the Vice-President for Academic Development and Community Service, Dr. Hani bin Othman Ghazi, the Dean of Renovation and Quality, Dr. Muhammad Ghaafar Thabet, and the Director of Public Relations and Media, Mr. Khaled bin Jameel Mursi. The visit started with the College of Education, followed by the College of Da’wah and Islamic Theology, the College of Shari’ah and Islamic Studies, the College of Arabic Language, and finally the College of Applied Sciences. It is noteworthy that the aim of this visit was to check on the beginning of the academic year 1437/1438H, and reviewing the institutional and academic accreditation levels of the colleges.


During the visit, Dr. Assas and his companions met with the Deans of the colleges, and number of faculty members, as well as students at classrooms and laboratories so as to identify their needs and demands. On his part, Dr. Assas denoted that conducting such visits is a strategy adopted by the university administration with the aim of checking on the progress of the educational process from the very beginning of the academic year. He also confirmed that regular visits are always paid to support the educational and academic progress, maintain the proper educational environment needed for the students, identify the students’ needs, and solve any problem hindering the achievement of the educational progress of the students; utilizing the resources provided by the government -may Allah support it.


Moreover, Dr. Assas urged the university units, such as: Operation, Maintenance, Safety and Security Unit to regularly follow up on the buildings, classrooms, and surrounding services of the university, so as to ensure maintaining the proper educational environment for our students. However, he praised the efforts exerted by the Vice-President for Academic Development and Community Service, Dr. Hani Ghazi, the entire Development staff, as well as the different colleges of UQU to get the institutional, academic accreditation on time, and as per the plans.

On his part, Dr. Ghazi said that this visit came to check on the beginning of the academic year at the classrooms, and the progress in obtaining the academic accreditation. He also confirmed that the colleges have already fulfilled a large part of the conditions and requirements of the accreditation, and he expected that the university would obtain the accreditation next year. Eventually, Dr. Ghazi denoted that this advanced stage that the UQU Deanship for Academic Development and Community Service has reached is due to the continuous support of the UQU President.

It followed that the UQU President, Dr. Assas, conducted an inspection tour to the Deanship of Admission and Registration and checked on the services offered by the deanship under the direction of Dr. Abdulmajeed Al-Ghamidi, the Dean of Admission and Registration. During his tour, Dr. Assas met with number of students who had queries about their academic path at the university. Over and above, Dr. Assas extended thanks to Dr. Ghamidi and the staff of the deanship for the efforts they exerted to place 90,000 students in their different departments and programs.


At last, Dr. Assas mentioned that the total number of the students enrolled at UQU in Makkah Al-Mukarramah and its branches in Jamoum, Al-Laith, Adham, and Al-Qunfudhah, has reached 110,000 students.
