Arabic Language Department organized a seminar entitled “Literature in Community Service” at the university theater on Monday, 23/03/1439 AH, under the patronage of Dr. Yassin Al-Zubaidi, dean of Al-Qunfudhah University College.
Dr. Ali Al-Shahri, head of Arabic Language Department, presented the seminar, while Dr. Lotfy Dubeich, Dr. Sami Seliman and Dr. Ali Khafif gave lectures.
The seminar discussed the importance of literature in community service in terms of intellectual, economic and political sides. The lecturers emphasized that literature not only maintains beauty, but also serves the society. Literature has a major role in promoting life and society, which could be limited to one thing, which is decency. Human decency is the last end at which the writers’ efforts stop, which represents the message of this great art. Decency is reflected in two things: benefit and influence. Literature, in general, is the decent human life and the sublime social life. It links between individuals, on one hand, and between the previous and subsequent generations, as well as different groups, on another hand. It uplifts the humankind to a great intellectual, sensory and moral level.
