Coinciding with the International Day of Disabled Persons, under the slogan “Transformation towards sustainable and resilient society for all”, Dr. Ali bin Mislah Almatrfi, the dean of the Education College, inaugurated, on Monday 16/3/1439 H, the exhibition of assistive technologies to the disabled persons at the UQU’s Education College.
The exhibition included some modern applications used in the smart devices and the assistive technology devices, which help the disabled persons to adapt to the circumstances surrounding them. The visitors were allowed to try some technologies and interact directly with them. , And There was a special part for the devices of writing and reading by “Braille”, and also the visitors tried “The path to universal access with the white stick”; in addition to many other activities.
The exhibition supervisor, Dr. Mohammed bin Mathri Al-Howiti, said that such an event allows the students to take part in the international day, and make them gain variable experience that is not limited to the theoretical side. Moreover, it emphasizes on the significance of the practical application for the assistive technology that is of greater importance for those who work in the special education. The assistive technology is a necessary means of educating and helping the disabled persons and meeting their needs.
At the end of the meeting, the college dean thanked Dr. Sobhi Al Harthy, head of the Special Education Department, and Dr. Mohammed bin Mathri Al-Howiti, and students of the assistive technology for the disabled people subject.
