The College of Health Sciences in Al-Qunfudhah held an introductory meeting for the students of the fifth year, the internship year, for the academic year 1443 A.H. The aim of the meeting was to edify the students on the available assessment methods and training programs for them to pass their training easily and successfully. This took place in the presence of the Dean of the College, Dr. Bandar bin Siraj Faqiha, the Vice Dean for Educational Affairs, Dr. Naif bin Abdullah Al-Suhaimi, the Head of the Hospital Affairs Unit, Dr. Murhaf bin Fouad Karni, and Prof. Ashraf Uwais, a college academic staff member.
In this regard, Dr. Bandar Faqiha considered the internship students as ambassadors of the university and bearers of the beacon of knowledge; they are able to apply their scientific knowledge in the work environment with high excellence and professionalism in performing tasks and dealing with patients, reflecting the lauded efforts of the academic staff throughout the different academic years up to the internship year. He also stressed that the college has worked to develop its programs offered to students by developing training plans and enrichment activities that contribute to harnessing their skills and equipping them with the necessary communication tools.
Meanwhile, the Head of Hospital Affairs Unit, Dr. Murhaf Karni, explained that the internship year focuses on bridging the scientific gains with their application in various workplaces through the development of applied skills among students and by training them to work individually and collectively. This is in addition to increasing their self-confidence, thanks to professional practice in the hospital, the field cases which were handled in cooperation with the Saudi Red Crescent, and the interaction with colleagues and supervisors, as well as familiarizing them with work pressures, being well-prepared to address them and ready to face them in all situations. He also called on students to keep abreast of the latest developments in the science of emergency medical services and to increase their scientific and cognitive achievements in this field.
During the meeting, Dr. Naif Al-Suhaimi acquainted the students with their rights along with the internship year guide. He also explained the admission procedures and evaluation methods. In addition, the program opens the way for students to engage in various jobs.
Moreover, Prof. Ashraf Uwais, an college academic staff member, referred to the positive role undertaken by the trainee in serving the patients and the importance of taking advantage of the internship year, when the students face different cases which enable them to learn and obtain various skills which they need to acquire through direct contact with these cases.
