In collaboration with Al-Qunfudah Health Affairs Directorate, the College of Health Sciences (Female Section) in Al-Qunfudah held a Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign in October 2018, within the breast cancer awareness month, under the slogan "Do not Be the Eighth - Early Detection Saves Your Life" on Wednesday, 01, Safar, 1440 A.H., at the Deanship of the Preparatory Year. The campaign is based on the community's social responsibility and within the community service programs carried out by the College, which aim to raise the level of health awareness of the community. The campaign also aims to reduce the incidence of breast cancer and clarify the importance of early detection of breast cancer. The campaign began with an awareness lecture delivered by Dr. Elwiyya Bawhab, a specialist in family medicine, in which she highlighted the keenness of the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Ministry of Health, to combat this disease, and the need to raise awareness about it, its causes, how to prevent it, and the importance of early detection. She praised the importance of the efforts exerted by the health colleges in support of the Directorate of Health in the maintenance of community health. In addition to the campaign, there was an awareness exhibition prepared by students of the Preparatory Year, which included several corners concerned with the definition of the disease, the importance of a healthy lifestyle, and breast-feeding to prevent breast cancer. The exhibition witnessed widespread turnout and the participants and faculty members expressed their thanks to the male and female organizers, and stressed the importance of such campaigns in raising awareness among the members of the community. At the end, Al-Qunfudah Health Affairs Directorate and all the female lecturers and participations in the campaign were honored.
