The sixteenth Sustainable Development Goal, “Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions” aims to promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice forall, and build effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions at all levels. This SDG aligns with the UQU’s strategicgoal,whichis“enhancingresourceefficiencyandgovernance toachieve excellencein institutional work”. This strategic goal is also aligned with the Saudi Vision 2030, which is related to “strengthening institutions, promoting the rule of law, enhancing citizen participation, and ensuring safety and security”.

Umm Al-Qura University is a governmental institution. It adopts and implements the policies and regulations of the Government of Saudi Arabia. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia seeks to strengthen its position attheregional andinternational levelsbycombating corruptioninvariousfieldsandcombating all forms of violence and abuse, especially violence against children.

Umm Al-Qura University has a policy on supporting academic freedom, the Regulations for Scientific Research and Innovation in Universities (See theLink). Also, UQUemphasizes avision for improving scientific research, which includes policy-focused research. The aim is to maintain high academic excellence, fairness, andobjectivity standards intheresearchprocess, ensuring that it aligns withthe university's strategicobjectives andbroadereducational goals(SeetheLink).Also,UQUhasapproved Housing Regulations for Faculty Members (See theLink).
