The first Scientific Research Forum, organized by Umm al- Qura University seeks to support scientific research at the university, develop it, and promote it to realize the vision of national transformation 2030 AD. This is because of the belief that awareness is the first step towards change and progress, and the awareness of the officials in the deanship of the importance of scientific research in the knowledge society. It is the accurate measure of the level of progress in any university and the exact measure of the depth of the impact of the university in the movement of thought and society. So, this Forum comes to open the prospect of dialogue and development and infuses life and vitality in the academia, through showing the support provided by the deanship through internal and external grant programs, the ambitious research centers and important research chairs it implies. It also aims to stimulate the faculty members and post-graduate studies students and make them aware of the prospects of development that extend in front of them. It also shows the successful models, and illuminating experiences in the world of scientific research, along with defining very important concepts concerning the international scientific publishing. Moreover, it warns them against the obstacles and challenges they may face, and how to avoid them.  It informs them about academic quality standards of scientific research. It does not overlook the ethics of scientific research, scientific integrity, and the honesty, accuracy, objectivity, awareness, and firm scientific knowledge a serious honest researcher should have. This is accompanied by a conscious review of the reality and an ambition anticipation of what is aspired, in an active and open academic atmosphere, in which experiences, ideas, ambitions and hopes are presented, and fruitful and constructive discussions take place. This happens through the working papers that will be presented, with realizing the scientific understanding and intellectual communication. This would -Allah willing- ignite the flame of enthusiasm based on the awareness, knowledge and ability, which will result in the deepest impact on encouraging scientific research at the university and promoting it in the right way.
Scientists at universities and scientific centers have repeatedly held scientific meetings, usually accompanied by a presentation of their scientific production. Consequently, scientists learn about the latest researches of their counterparts, which expands the area of cognitive awareness, and encourages carrying out more researches to continue the way and to add to the knowledge edifice. Thus, a researcher will not repeat the work of another researcher and will know to where other researchers arrived. This is one of the central goals of the first scientific research forum in the Scientific Research Deanship. In the Forum, there will be a corner dedicated to each college to show the scientific production of the faculty members; whether researches, studies or books. Thus, it becomes an informing corner illustrating the scientific movement in each College.  Each corner will be supervised by a nominated faculty member to receive the visiting professors, answer their questions, and display his scientific production as well as that of his colleagues. This will have a profound impact on raising the spirit of positive competition and firing enthusiasm. Moreover, it will draw the attention of colleges to giving priority to research and researchers as it will shed light on those who have special research qualifications in each department, which will result in paying due attention to and encouraging those precious elite. Above all, it is a thorough probe to find out the latest researches and studies produced by each college, and at the same time it reveals the shortage, deficiency or slowdown in the scientific movement, that may appear. This would provoke those concerned to rectify the mistake and find solutions. It is a fair of stimulation, development and co-operation, Allah willing.
