The Physical Education Department was established in 1407 Hijri in the Teachers College affiliated to the Ministry of Education and started with the bachelor program in Physical Education that was applied on a sound scientific ground. Many students were graduated from the College and many proceeded with their university studies. The Physical Education Department flied to new horizons after the college was renamed Al-Qunfudhah University College and was affiliated to Umm Al-Qura University in 1428 Hijri. Light was shed on the importance of in-class and out-of-class physical and sports programs in line with the technological revolution, and driven by the belief in the importance of developing the curricula to improve quality of graduates to be up to the latest advancements. Number of students in the academic year 1434/1435 Hijri reached 489 students.

Preparing and graduating students with social, cultural and physical skills and potentials who are well-aware of the main theories and its applications to be up to their roles and responsibilities in supporting and attending to citizens in educational and cultural institutions. The Department mission is also to improve the professional level of people working in the physical education field.
